As the Las Vegas Raiders prepare for a crucial offseason, a new report suggests that Tom Brady—now a minority owner of the franchise—is actively recruiting Matthew Stafford, the two-time Pro Bowl quarterback and Super Bowl LVI champion. This news has sparked speculation about the future of the Raiders’ quarterback position, with Brady’s influence potentially shaping the team’s roster in a significant way.

Tom Brady is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders but he’s not technically allowed to hold an official position within the organization due to NFL rules. Because of that, it’s difficult to know exactly what his role will be.

That said, everything this offseason has indicated that he’s going to be involved in football operations. He had a strong voice in adding John Spytek as general manager and Pete Carroll as head coach. He also is apparently set to play a large role in who the next quarterback will be.

Many have thought Brady may help evaluate quarterback prospects but he might actually be more helpful in trying to recruit a veteran.

According to a new report from Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Brady is actively recruiting one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL to the Raiders.

“The Raiders have emerged as a potential landing spot for veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has been given permission by the Rams to speak with other teams to gauge his market outside of Los Angeles,” Bonsignore wrote.

“Raiders minority owner Tom Brady has been in contact with Stafford’s camp about the possibility of the 37-year-old coming to Las Vegas, according to multiple NFL sources.”

Stafford would immediately jumpstart the Raiders rebuild. He’d help turn them into a playoff threat overnight and if Spytek nails the draft and free agency, Las Vegas could be legitimate contenders.

Considering Stafford’s age, he’d be a short-term solution but he’d also easily be the best quarterback the Raiders have had since Rich Gannon in the early 2000s.
